This Waterloo, Michigan lakefront backyard was a full transformation built to fit the natural wooded setting. The property drops toward the lake, so we used multi-tier outcropping retaining walls to control grade while keeping everything looking natural. Each level was designed to feel intentional and usable without taking away from the views or the surrounding trees.

 

Custom stone steps with handrails connect the tiers, with Unilock paver patios and a custom paver driveway tying everything together. We added multiple firepit and seating areas throughout the yard, along with a boulder fountain and natural stone accents to keep the space feeling organic instead of overbuilt.

 

To finish it off, we installed extensive landscape lighting to highlight the walls, steps, trees, and pathways, completely changing how the space feels at night. Combined with layered plantings, this project is a great example of high-end lakefront landscape and hardscape work in Waterloo, Michigan, done the right way.
